This colorful pieced quilt was made in an equal nine patch variation. Each of the square blocks, that measure 4.5 inches, are set on point with background blocks of an orange madder abstract print. There are many good examples of calicoes from the second half of the nineteenth century in this quilt. The backing and batting are made of cotton. The quilt is bound in the same orange print as the background blocks. All of sewing and quilting was done by hand, and is of a high standard.
