This traditional alphabet sampler (navneduk) was done on a natural colored canvas-backing in cross-stitch using two strands of wool yarn. The sampler includes variations of alphabet, initials, and numbers.
The sampler, which belonged to Bertina Midboe, was probably made by her mother and brought from Norway when the family immigrated to Wisconsin in the mid 1800’s.
