Hand carved spoon with broad, nearly round bowl. Narrow stem and arched handle with hook at underside of tip. Incised (kolrosing) decoration of ship in bowl interior and floral design on handle.

Jacob Wilhelm Vellekson was born in Fillmore County, Minnesota, in 1867, the son of Norwegian immigrants, Kittel and Karen (Jakobson) Vellekson, who settled in Minnesota in 1865.
