Two wooden spoons with handles that are carved primitive figures. Decorative chains extend from hands and top of heads. Incised (kolrosing) decoration. Varnished.

Carved by Knut or Knute Olsen Sletto (1843-1937), born in Hol, Hallingdal, Norway. Immigrated with mother, Margit Knutsdatter Brye, and six siblings in 1859 after father, Ole Olsen Sletto, died. Knut fought in the Civil War with Company G of the 12th Wisconsin Infantry. Married Signe Thompson Sletto and had eight children. Sletto was a carpenter and house builder.
