This tea caddy has an applied rosebud on the lid. The marks on the bottom include a CB for Christian Børs, the goldsmith; the assayer’s mark for Peter Michael Blytt; the Bergen city gate over seven balls (indicating it was made in Bergen): the zodiac sign for Sagittarius (indicating it was made between November 22 and December 21); and a 20 (indicating that it was made in 1820).

This tea caddy was brought to rural Decorah, Iowa, by Ulrik Vihelm and Elisabeth Koren when they emigrated from Larvik, Norway, to become the pastor and wife of Washington Prairie Church.
