Randi Hansdatter Helgevold (or Nordhelgevold) brought this trunk from Sandeid, Norway when she came to Iowa in 1901. She married Harry Anfinson in Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1904.

Bergljot Lunde (rosemaler from Sand, Rogaland) says, “this is typical Rogaland from the Lars Trageton tradition.”

According to Nils Ellingsgard, “Judging from the placement of the iron fittings, this trunk is from either Hordaland or Ryfylke, though the fine decorative work was executed by a Telemark painter, probably Gunleik Bergstuen, Bondal.”
