Margit Mathiesen Osri was born in Drammen, Norway in 1891. She received art training at the Chicago Art Institute after immigrating to the U.S. in 1914. She painted florals, landscapes, and cityscapes and sold her works through Marshall Field’s and Carson Pirie Scott department stores. She exhibited at the Norwegian Women’s Club in Chicago and the All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts in the 1940s. She was also the Art Chairman for the Norwegian Woman’s Club in Chicago for five years. Osri died in Chicago, Illinois in 1946.
