This yarn holder hooks onto a woman’s belt and has receptacles for two knitting needles, a hook for the yarn, and a third container, perhaps for scissors. The piece was handed down through generations of a Norwegian-American family. It was made by Jørgen Blyth in Christiana (Oslo) Norway around 1840. Blyth was one of at least 12 members of a distinguished family who became goldsmiths, mostly in Bergen.
