Enlisted for three years on 20 Dec 1861 at Decorah and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 29 Dec 1861. Private. Sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, 9 Dec 1862. Died of Chronic Diarrhea in general hospital at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 10 Mar 1863. Buried in National Cemetery at Stone’s River, Tennessee; section J, grave 110. It was said his body was brought to the cemetery “from the battlefield”. This may be a reference to another soldier with this name.
