WI 15th Inf Co E. Residence: Freeman, Crawford County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 31. Married. Enlisted for three years on 4 Nov 1861 in Crawford County. Mustered 27 Jan 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Left sick in hospital at Danville, Kentucky, on 18 Oct 1862. Discharged from there to return to Regiment 16 Feb 1863, but “has failed to report and is dropped on 30 Apr 1863 as deserter”. Found to have been discharged from the Infantry service at St. Louis, Missouri, on 20 Jan 1863 so that he could join a Marine Brigade.
