WI 15th Inf Co E. Residence: Primrose, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Farmer. Age 19. Unmarried. Blue eyes, blond hair, fair complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 1 Nov 1861 at Dane County. Mustered 8 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Left sick at Bird’s Point, Missouri, 14 Mar 1862; moved to hospital at Mound City, Illinois, 18 Mar 1862. On 3 Jun 1862, he was listed as still at Mound City. Later, reported to be absent without leave. Found to be sick at Bowling Green, Kentucky, on 4 Nov 1862. Sent to General Field Hospital near Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on 20 Mar 63. Died there of chronic diarrhea on 15 May 1863. Buried in National Cemetery at Stone’s River, Tennessee; section J, grave 428.
