Born 31 Jun 1847 near Drammen, Norway. At age nine, came to America with his parents. Settled in Grant County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Private. Was a soldier for about a year. Post war: In 1870, he moved to Chippewa County, Minnesota. Storekeeper in Montevideo. Married Rintha G. Palmer in 1873. Eight children.
