MN 7th Inf Co E. Residence: Newburg, Fillmore County, Minnesota. Born “Ole Olsen Holtan” on 23 Jul 1840 at Nummedal, Flesberg, Norway, son of Ole Olsen Fjise and Guri Helliksdatter Holtan. Ole adopted the surname of his foster father, Knud Kittlesen Baglie. He came to America with his mother and his grandparents on “Hercules”, sailing from Drammen and reaching New York City on 1 Jul 1843. They came to Koshkonong, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 22. Enrolled 22 Aug 1862. Mustered 24 Sep 1862. Private. Served in Indian and Civil wars. Promoted to Corporal. Wounded in the battle of Tupula, Tennessee. Discharged from the service with his regiment on 16 Aug 1865. Post war: Married Ingeborg Texley [1846-1915]. Five children. They lived on a farm north of Mabel, Fillmore County. In 1904, they moved to Glenwood, Pope County, Minnesota. Later, moved to Spring Grove, Houston County, Minnesota.
