WI 15th Inf Co F. Residence: Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Unmarried. Age 20. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’11”. Enlisted for three years on 5 Nov 1861 at Manitowoc and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 12 Dec 1861. Private. Sick in hospital in July 1982. Sick in hospital at Iuka, Mississippi, 21 Aug 1862. Wounded at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862, shot through his leg by a musket ball. His leg was amputated above the knee and he was sent to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Was moved to a hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and then to one in Madison, Wisconsin, and he was discharged from the service there on 13 Jul 1864 because of disability due to his wound.
