MN 4th Inf Co H. Residence: Arandahl, Fillmore County, Minnesota. Born in Norway in 1847. Came to US in 1851 to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In 1853 he went to Iowa. Civil War: Age 18. Enrolled 15 Aug 1864. Mustered the same day. Recruit. Private. Said to have taken part in Sherman’s march to the sea. Discharged from the service 12 Jun 1865. Post war: In 1878, he moved to Fargo, Dakota Territory, and became a merchant in the firm of Olson & Ellison. Joined GAR 16 Jun 1885.
