Enlisted for three years on 2 Nov 1861 in Green County and mustered 10 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Detached in the Light Battalion of 2nd Brigade. Wounded in battle at Stone’s River, Tennessee, and sent to camp hospital at Chattanooga. Sick since Sep 15, 1863 in field hospital at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Sent to a hospital at Nashville. Died of chronic diarrhea in U.S. General Hospital No. 8 at Nashville, Tennessee, on 9 Nov 1863. Buried in National Cemetery; section E, grave 185. He was entered on the Roll of Honor for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps.
