Left sick at Mississippi River Island No. 10, on 11 Jun 1862 and sent to hospital 20 Jul 1862. Was sick in Iuka, Mississippi, and Corinth, Mississippi, the same year; also Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Farmington, Mississippi, and in Cleveland, Ohio, on 1 Jan 1863. Killed, shot through the heart, on Rocky Face Ridge in the battle of New Hope Church, Georgia, on 27 May 1864.
