Enlisted for three years on 10 May 1861 at Menomonie. Mustered 13 Jul 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Re-enlisted as a veteran for three years on 10 Feb 1864 at Brandy Station, Virginia, and re-mustered there 16 Feb 1864. Transferred to WI 5th Inf Co A on 13 Jul 1864. “Honest and brave”. Wounded in a skirmish sometime after the battle at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia, 6 Apr 1865 Sent to hospital 13 Jun 1865 at Baltimore, Maryland. Discharged from the service 25 Jun 1865 at Baltimore, for disability due to wounds. Post war: Granted a pension of $24 a month because of the loss of his right arm.
