TX 1st Inf Co D. CSA. Born “Thomas Fasting Grogaard” on 24 Dec 1836 at Lillesand, Norway. Civil War: Enlisted for one year on 26 May 1861 at Linden, Cass County, Texas. Private. Discharged for disability on 9 Sep 1861 at Richmond, Virginia. On 10 May 1862, he enlisted again, this time for the war, at Marshall, Harrison County, Texas, and was assigned to TX 28th Cav Co F. Private. He was captured at Gaines Landing, Arkansas, on 20 Jul 1862. Exchanged near Vicksburg, Mississippi, in early Nov 1862. Was assigned to special duty in the Quartermaster Department on 25 May 1863. Was sick at Alexandria, Louisiana, 28 May 1863 to Aug 1863. Post war: Died on 10 Jan 1901, at Atlanta, Cass County, Texas.
