Blue eyes, brown hair, sandy complexion, 5’1½”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 5 Nov 1864 at Iola, and mustered there the same day. Private. Post war: The wife of John Gunderson in March 1865 applied for $5 a month in state aid. The commander of company C, on 27 Mar 1865, certified that Gunderson, drafted on 5 Nov 1864, had joined Company C on 11 Dec 1864 and was “present for duty”. Post war: Lived at Iola. Died 8 Feb 1880.
