GUNDERSON, John

MN 9th Inf Co H. Residence: Carver, Carver County, Minnesota. “Johan Gundersen” was born at Kneppe, Gaardemoen, Norway. In 1846 he married Marie Ingeborg of Fredricksall, Norway. They and two children, Gustave and Ole, came to America in 1854 to Carver County. Civil War: Age 41. Enrolled 15 Aug 1862. Mustered 27 Oct (or 22 Aug) 1862. Private. Served under General Sibley in western Minnesota during the Sioux uprisings. Discharged from the service for disability 26 Aug 1863. Post war: John Gunderson of Elizabeth, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, in Nov 1880, was granted a pension of $4 a month because of paralysis of his right arm.
