Re-enlisted as a Veteran on 1 Jan 1864 at Nashville, Tennessee. Mustered the same day at Cleveland, Tennessee. At this time he listed his residence as Newark, Kendall County, Illinois. Promoted to Sergeant. Mustered out on 8 Oct 1865 at New Orleans, Louisiana. Post war: Married to Flora Christian on 28 Oct 18??. He was married a second time, name unknown.
