DT 1st Cav Battalion Co A. Born 18 Oct 1827 in Granvin, Hardanger, Norway. Civil War: Enlisted 13 Jan 1862. Private. Was Bugler of the First Dakota Cavalry. Served in Indian and Civil wars. Discharged from the service 9 May 1865. Post war: Married to Julia Olson. Seven children. Hanson died of senility at age 86 at Meckling, Clay County, South Dakota and is buried there in the Bergen and Meckling Cemetery.
