Born “Johannes Hansen Kjenseth”in Nordre Land, Oppland, Norway, on 8 Apr 1846, son of Hans Halvorsen Brenna and Eli Johannesdatter Sveen. Came with his parents and two siblings on “Fremad”, which sailed from Drammen and arrived in New York on 25 Aug 1848. They came to the Wiota settlement, Lafayette County, Wisconsin.
