JACOBSON, Iver

WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Hartland Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota. Born in Hadeland, Norway, on 25 Jul 1835, son of Jacob and Kari (Crippen) Sorlie. Came to America in 1853 to Wisconsin. Moved to Minnesota in 1859. Married 26 Sep 1859 to Mary Olson. 13 children. Civil War: Age 26. Enlisted for three years on 24 Nov 1861 in Freeborn County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Took part in the battles at Perryville, Kentucky, and Stone’s River, Tennessee. Seriously wounded at Stone’s River, 31 Dec 1862, and sent to hospitals in Nashville, Tennessee, and New Albany, Indiana. Discharged from the service for disability due to his wounds at Louisville, Kentucky, 13 May 1863. Post war: Crippled for the rest of his life. Granted a pension of $6 a month because of gun shot wounds to his left thigh and leg. Died in 1916.
