JACOBSON, Jacob L.

WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Born December 1831 in Siljan, Telemark, Norway, a son of Lars Jacobson and Ingebert Larson. Civil War: Age 29. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 25 Nov 1861 at Oconomowoc, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 10 Dec 1861. Private. Left sick at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on 11 Jun 1862. Sick in hospital at Iuka, Mississippi, 21 Aug 1862. Missing in action during the battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, 20 Sep 1863, but came back to duty soon. With provisional transport from Stevenson on 13 Oct 1863. Was sick in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 28 Nov 1863. Transferred to the 68th Indiana Regiment on 1 Feb 1864. Returned to Company D on 2 Apr 1864. Wounded in his left shoulder during the Battle of New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864, and was sent to hospital in Chattanooga. Mustered out with Company on 13 Feb 1865 at Chattanooga. Is entered on the Roll of Honor for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps. Post war: Died 16 Jun 1892. Buried at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Stone Bank, Waukesha County.
