Enlisted for three years on 25 Nov 1861 in Freeborn County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Designated Sergeant on 1 Feb 1862. Reduced to ranks. Taken prisoner at Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863. Died of Chronic Diarrhea in Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia, 16 Feb 1864. Buried in National Cemetery at Danville, Virginia.
