WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: New Lisbon, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 22. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 23 Dec 1861 at New Lisbon, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 11 Jan 1862. Private. Promoted to Corporal on 1 Dec 1862. Was guard with the baggage train on 18 Aug 1862. Wounded and taken prisoner in Battle of Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862. Returned to Company D on 10 Jan 1863. Taken prisoner at Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863. Sent to Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia, and then to Andersonville Prison, Georgia, where he died on 15 Jun 1864, of diarrhea. Buried in Andersonville National Cemetery; grave 2003.
