WI 47th Inf Co A. Residence: Winchester, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Born 24 Jun 1833 in Norway. Came to America in 1853 and to Winnebago County. Married to Anna Olson on 30 Dec 1856. Civil War: Farmer. Age 31. Married. Blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 5’5”. Enlisted for one year on 10 Feb 1865 at Dale, Wisconsin. Enlistment credited to Madison, Dane County. Mustered 21 Feb 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. Mustered out 4 Sep 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. Post war: Nine children. Halvor died 22 Mar 1926 and is buried beside his wife in Grace Lutheran Cemetery at Winchester. Two brothers, John and Ole, also served in the WI 47th.
