From Gaarden Gjesfjeld in Hjelmeland, Stavanger County, Norway. Civil War: Private. Wounded and taken prisoner in the war. He was held in a prison in Richmond, Virginia, and escaped from there with a comrade, Andreas Langeland. Johnson lived in Newry, Minnesota. Married Maret Thompson. Four children.
