WI 17th Inf. Born “Ole Johannesen Rebne” on 10 Jul 1832 at Nord Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, son of Johannes Svendsen Rebne and Marie Olsdatter Ranum. He came to America with his parents and a sister, Barbro, on “Lyna”, which sailed from Drammen, Buskerud, 8 Jun 1849 and arrived in New York 14 Aug 1849. They came to Buchanan township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Ole was married on 17 Sep 1854 to Thuri Julsdatter Qvale (1828-?). Nine children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 33. Brown eyes, dark hair, ruddy complexion, 5’10”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 30 Sep 1864 at Liberty, Wisconsin. Mustered the same day. Private.
