KASTERUD, Iver Pedersen

WI 25th Inf. Residence: Coon Valley, Bad Ax County, Wisconsin. From Biri, Norway. Born 1842. Came to America from Fåberg, Norway, in 1862. He was a brother to Johannes and Ole Kasterud. Civil War: Private. He first fought Indians in Minnesota. He was said to have been with General Sherman on his march to the sea. He was not sick and was not wounded in his time in service. He took part in the grand parade in Washington. Post war: He married Marie Nelson, and they had five children. Died at Ettrick, Wisconsin (before 1907).
