WI 15th Inf Co E. Residence: Rushford, Fillmore County, Minnesota. Born 16 Apr 1829 in Ringebu, Hafslo, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, son of Peder Olsen Solvorn and Marthe Johnsdatter. Came to America to the Koshkonong settlement in Dane County, Wisconsin. Married on 2 Aug 1852 in Dane County to Ingeborg Gunleiksdatter Bringa. About 1860, they moved to Fillmore County. Civil War: Age 32. Shoemaker. Unmarried (sic). Blue eyes, dark hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 18 Dec 1861. Enlistment credited to La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered 20 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Corporal. Promoted to Sergeant 1 Mar 1863. Served with the provision transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Shot in the abdomen in the Battle of New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864, and died that day. Buried at Marietta, Georgia, Cemetery; section A, grave 855.
