Married 12 Jul 1842 to Martha Olsdatter Sørtveit. They came to America from Stavanger, Rogaland, in 1844. They came first to Muskego, Racine County, Wisconsin. In 1847, they moved to Beloit township, Rock County. Civil War: Farmer. Age 43. Married. Enlisted for three years on 21 Aug 1862 at Beloit. Mustered 1 Sep 1862 at Camp Utley, Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Died in the hands of the enemy at Columbia, Tennessee, on 11 Mar 1863 of wounds received in the Battle of Thompson Station, Tennessee, on 5 Mar 1863.
