Enlisted for three years on 25 Feb 1862 in Door County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 1 Mar 1862. Private. Served as a military policeman on 20 Jul 1862. Served as an escort with the transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Sick in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 28 Nov 1863. Sick in Knoxville, Tennessee, 24 Feb 1864. Promoted to Corporal.
