Enlisted for three years on 2 Oct 1861 at Almund, Portage County, Wisconsin. Mustered 11 Oct 1861 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran for three years on 20 Dec 1863 at Chattanooga, Tennessee, and re-mustered there on 8 Jan 1864. Bounty $400, $60 paid at muster. One month’s pay of $13 plus $2 premium paid to him and to 23 battery-mates who re-enlisted with him. Private. Given a 40-day furlough from 2 Feb 1864.
