WI 15th Inf Co I. Residence: St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. Born about 1837 in Ringebu, Norway. Came to America in the 1850s. Civil War: Age 24. Unmarried. Enlisted 16 Nov 1861 at Scandinavia, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 20 Dec 1861. Private. Detached and assigned to the 6th Ohio Battery on 28 Oct 1863. Wounded in his head at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864. Mustered out with I Company at Chattanooga, Tennessee, 10 Feb 1865. Post war: Myhre died 18 Mar 1889 in Scandinavia, Wisconsin. A stone reading “Peter A. Myhre –1889” is in Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery Sect. II Row 4, Scandinavia, Waupaca County.
