WI 28th Inf Co C. Residence: Summit, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Unmarried. Age 19. Blue eyes, sandy hair, light complexion, 5’9”, slim build. Enlisted for three years on 14 Aug 1862 at Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Mustered 13 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private. Discharged for disability on 12 Jul 1863 at Helena, Arkansas. Post war: In April 1882 a man named Marshall Nelson of Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, was granted a pension of $8 a month because of chronic diarrhea resulting in debilitation of his liver, stomach and kidneys.
