WI 53rd Inf Co D. Residence: Washington, La Crosse County, Wisconsin. Born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway, 16 Oct 1846 (1845?, 1848?), son of Aslack Olsen and Ann Marie Olsdatter. Civil War: Farmer. Age 18. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6½”. Enlisted for one year at LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on 30 Mar 1865. Mustered there the same day. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. On 10 Jun 1865, at Pleasant Hill, Missouri. his company was transferred into the WI 51st. In June 1865, he was transferred to Wisconsin 51st Infantry Regiment, Company I. Sick with malaria. Discharged from the service Sep or Oct 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. Post war: He lived in Bostwick Valley, Wisconsin; Glenwood, Polk County, Minnesota; Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota, and Audubon, Becker County, Minnesota. Married on 8 Dec 1872 in Becker County to Julia Ebeltoft. Nine children. Served two terms as Becker County Treasurer. He died 16 Feb 1930 of senile dementia and paralysis at Dunn Center, Decorah Township, Dunn County, North Dakota.
