WI 23rd Inf Co G. Residence: Hampden, Wisconsin. Born “Ole Jacobsen Hesjedal” on 24 May 1837 in Haus, Hordaland, Norway, son of Jacob Olsen Hesjedal and Ingeborg Torbjørnsdatter Strømme. He, his parents and four siblings came to America in 1847 to Spring Prairie and then to Hampden Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin. Ole was married on 24 Mar 1859 to Maria Larsdatter Hellistue (1841-1871). Five children. Civil War: Married. Age 25. Enlisted 15 Aug 1862. Mustered 30 Aug 1862. Private. Promoted to Corporal. Post war: Ole married on 11 Dec 1872 Anna Sjursdatter Bergstad (1849-1919). Seven children. Ole died 14 May 1912 and was buried at Our Savior Lutheran Church Cemetery, Campia, Wisconsin.
