WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: Mt. Horeb, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 14 Jan 1862 at Mt. Horeb, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 27 Jan 1862. Private. Sick in hospital at Mississippi River Island No. 10, 6 Apr 1862. Absent during July 1862 with the Commissary train. Suffered minor wounds and was missing in the Battle of Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862. Sent to Nashville, Tennessee; then to convalescent camp at Dennison, Ohio. Assigned as escort with the provision transport from Stevenson on 13 Oct 1863. Transferred to the 68th Indiana on 1 Feb 1864. Transferred back on 2 Apr 1864. Wounded in his right leg at New Hope Church on 27 May 1864. Discharged from the service from Harvey Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, on 14 Oct 1864, because of his wounds.
