OLSON, Iver Berg

WI 32nd Inf Co E. Residence: Liberty, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Born “Iver Olsen Berge” on 28 Mar 1824 in Vang, Valders, Oppland, Norway, son of Ole Gulliksen Berge and Anne Iversdatter Thune. He came to America with his brother Gulbrand (also to become a soldier) on “Concordia”, which sailed from Bergen 12 May 1849 and arrived in New York 10 Jul 1849. He came to Manitowoc County. Married Sigri Eriksdatter Raabølle (1831-1916). Eight children. Civil War: Farmer. Married. Age 40. Blue eyes, sandy hair, sandy complexion, 5’6”. Drafted for one year on 30 Sep 1864 at Liberty, and mustered there the same day. Bounty $186. Private. Was on campaigns in Georgia, South and North Carolina. Post war: Died 23 Feb 1912. Buried in West Valders Lutheran cemetery, Valders, Manitowoc County.
