WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: Pine Lake, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Born “Niels Olsen Solverød” on 21 May 1839 at Siljan, Telemark, Norway, son of Ole Andersen Solverød and Kari Isaksdatter. He came to America with his parents and three siblings on “Superb”, which sailed from Skien, Telemark, on 13 May 1849 and reached New York on 2 Jul 1849. They came to Delafield Towmship, Waukesha County, later moving up to Scandinavia Township, Waupaca County. Civil War: Age 29. Married. Enlisted for three years on 8 Dec 1861 at Pine Lake, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 10 Dec 1861. Private. Was on leave and sick in Pine Lake from 24 Mar to 24 May 1862. Left sick at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on 11 Jun 1862. Found to be unfit for service and was discharged for disability on 15 Jul 1862. Post war: Married on 20 Dec 1866 to Lovise Abrahamsdatter Nes (1843-1919). Nine children.
