WI 15th Inf Co F. Residence: Cato, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway, 6 Dec 1844 (or 1845). Civil War: Age 19. Farmer. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 18 Feb 1864 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 16 Mar 1864. Bounty $300 of which $60 paid at muster in. Private. Joined F Company on 26 Apr 1864. During the Atlanta campaign, he was hospitalized for chronic diarrhea and rheumatism, and sent to Cumberland hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, to about 1 Sep 1864. Promoted to Corporal 1 Oct 1864. Transferred to Company H at Whiteside, Tennessee, 13 Jan 1865. Temporarily assigned to Wisconsin 24th Infantry. Transferred to Company I of the 13th on 10 Jun 1865. In Oct 1865, he was sent to the division hospital at Victoria, Texas. Discharged from the service 24 Nov 1865 at San Antonio, Texas. Post war: He lived in Mary, Norman County, Minnesota. On 1 Sep 1888 he applied for a pension, claiming he had suffered from chronic diarrhea and rheumatism ever since his service days. Died 2 Nov 1896.
