WI 15th Inf Co F. Residence: Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Civil War: Painter. Age 25. Unmarried. Blue eyes, blond hair, 5’8”. Enlisted for three years on 20 Dec 1861 at Decorah and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 29 Dec 1861. Private. Sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, 9 Dec 1862. Died of Chronic Diarrhea in general hospital at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 10 Mar 1863. Buried in National Cemetery at Stone’s River, Tennessee; section J, grave 110. It was said his body was brought to the cemetery “from the battlefield”. This may be a reference to another soldier with this name.
