WI 46th Inf Co D. Residence: Primrose, Dane County, Wisconsin. Enlistment credited to Springvale, Columbia County. Born 8 Sep 1845 in Numedal, Norway. Came to America at age three with parents to Rock County, Wisconsin. Moved to Primrose. Civil War: Age 19. Blacksmith. Unmarried. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’7”. Enlisted for one year on 14 Feb 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 20 Feb 1865. Private. Mustered out with this Company on 27 Sep 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. Post war: He moved to Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota. Married in 1870 to Johnette Brown. Five children. In 1875, he moved to Jackson, Jackson County, where he became a county official.
