PETERSON, Ole No. 1

WI 15th Inf Co I. Residence: St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. Born “Ole Pedersen Lillelien” on 2 Dec 1843, in Norway, son of Peder Torgersen Lillelien and Anne Johannesdatter Solberg. He came to America, with his parents and six siblings, from Østre Gausdal, Oppland, in 1848. They came to Lebanon Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin, and later moved to St. Lawrence Township, Waupaca County. Civil War: Age 18. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 4 Nov 1861 at Scandinavia, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 20 Dec 1861. Private. Was with the provisions transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Taken prisoner at New Hope Church, Georgia, on 27 May 1864, and died of scurvy in Andersonville Prison on 21 Sep 1864. Buried there in grave 9461.
