Enlisted for three years on 9 Nov 1861 at Scandinavia and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 20 Dec 1861. Private. Appointed Corporal on 1 Feb 1862. On 3 Jun 1862, he is listed as having been sick at Mound City, Illinois, since 16 Mar 1862. Was with the provisions transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Became a prisoner of war at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864, and died of scurvy on 27 Sep 1864 in Andersonville Prison. Buried there in grave 9902.
