Born 12 Jan 1828 at Sogndal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, son of Ole Baardsen Kvåle and Gjertrud Olsdatter. Came to America on “Olav Kyrre”, which sailed from Bergen and reached New York on 28 Jun 1848. He came to Dane County, Wisconsin, and moved by 1855 to Wilmington township, Houston County, Minnesota. He married in 1855 Sigrid Iversdatter Flugeim. Nine children.
