Born “Syver Larsen Hovie” on 18 Sep 1828 in Østre Slidre, Oppland, Norway, son of Lars Syversen Hovie and Kari Aslaksdatter. He was married on 9 Apr 1849 to Seborg Evensdatter Rudi (1822-1885). He and his new wife came to America on “Lyna”, which sailed from Drammen, Buskerud, 8 Jun 1849 and arrived in New York 14 Aug 1849. They came to Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, and by 1860, they had moved to Buchanan Township, Manitowoc County. Died 17 Oct 1880. (Naeseth-Hedberg ’49-2430)
